Savor the Vines: Inside Landry Vineyards, Louisiana’s Premier Family-Owned Winery
By The Bayou Insider Staff
Nestled in the rolling hills of West Monroe, Landry Vineyards stands as a testament to family tradition, agricultural innovation, and Southern hospitality. What started as a small family operation in 1999 has grown into one of Louisiana’s premier wineries—producing over 200,000 bottles of wine annually, hosting seasonal concerts, and welcoming thousands of visitors each year.
More than a vineyard, Landry is a vibrant destination where wine, music, and community meet.
🍷 The Landry Legacy
Founded by Jeff and Libby Landry, along with their four sons, Landry Vineyards was born out of a vision to craft quality wines right here in North Louisiana. The Landrys planted their first vines over two decades ago, carefully selecting grapes that could thrive in the state’s unique climate.
Today, the family operates a 50-acre property, with 17 acres dedicated to vineyards. Their business continues to grow—rooted in faith, hard work, and a deep love for Louisiana land and people.
🍇 Grapes that Thrive in the Bayou
Unlike wineries in California or the Pacific Northwest, Landry Vineyards had to get creative with their grape selection to match Louisiana’s hot, humid environment. That’s why they grow climate-adapted varieties like:
Blanc Du Bois
Crimson Cabernet
Black Spanish (Lenoir)
Carlos and Noble Muscadines
These varieties form the backbone of their locally produced wines, while select premium grapes from California are brought in to create hand-crafted, barrel-aged blends that round out their 24-bottle portfolio.
Whether you prefer dry reds, crisp whites, fruity semi-sweets, or rich port-style dessert wines, Landry has something for every palate.
🍽️ Tasting, Touring & Toasting
Visitors can enjoy daily wine tastings Monday through Saturday from 11:00 AM to 5:30 PM. For just $10, guests sample six wines and receive a signature Landry wine glass. Additional tastings are available for $5.
Groups of six or more are encouraged to book in advance, and guided vineyard tours are offered on non-concert Saturdays at 2:00 PM. These in-depth tours include a look behind the scenes—from the vines to the bottling line—giving guests a full view of the vineyard’s operations.
Whether you’re a wine connoisseur or just wine-curious, the relaxed, rural setting makes it the perfect place to slow down and sip.
🎶 Music Among the Vines
Landry Vineyards' seasonal outdoor concert series continues to delight visitors with live music set against the picturesque backdrop of their rolling vineyards. These family-friendly events feature local bands, food trucks, and, of course, Landry's selection of wines.
